In the last couple days, I've seen two women wearing Tramper Moccasins....
This is Bess' Tramper Moccasin designed by husband and wife team Doug and Bess Abraham. They launched this New York-based vintage-inspired clothing and accessories label in 2000 and quickly gained acclaim for their inimitably cool collection of artfully-worn items stamped with hip modern flair (Net-a-Porter; $405).
The Tramper Moccasin refers to the style that goes over the ankle, but not up the calf. The origin of "Tramper" comes from a person who hikes, and normally camps in the backcountry for a period of time. The term is commonly used in New Zealand and in Australia to a lesser extent.
Here's another version from Piperlime ($55). These are by Minnetonka, one of the most popular brands of Moccasins. Celeb-stylist Rachel Zoe loves the fringe look. "It's a trend everyone can wear," she says. "These boots are great in warm weather too. Just throw on with sundresses and jean shorts."
Kudos, to the two ladies who were able to pull it off this week. I didn't stop to take your picture because I'm unusually cranky and my makeup is running down my face and my sweaty hair is plastered to my forehead....so, yeah...
Congrats! And thanks for keeping me inspired even in this retched heat!
I never could get into the moccasin thing. But I'm looking forward to hearing more about the riding boots =) Blessings... Polly
